legal assistance

How do I start working with The Mental Health Justice Project?

If you believe that we can assist you with your case, please reach out to us. We will then set up a call to discuss the details of your case and determine if we are able to assist. You can read more about our process here.

What documents will you need to review when I reach out to you?

In order for us to determine whether we are able to assist with your case, we will need to review any denial letter(s) that you’ve received from your insurance company, or your most recent correspondence from them. We may also ask to see copies of your insurance policy, or other relevant documents, after speaking with you. If you do not have access to these documents, or if you are unsure if you do, but you believe that MHJP may be able to help you, please reach out to us [link to contact page] and we will discuss the details of your case with you.

Do you work with clients on claims that are not related to mental health?

At The Mental Health Justice Project, our work is primarily focused on mental health-related healthcare or disability insurance claims, but we also represent clients with secondary mental health conditions related to other medical conditions. If you are unsure if MHJP may be able to assist you in your circumstances, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

What types of cases do you work on?

The program specializes in guaranteeing mental health care for children and young adults, and challenging denials of mental health coverage by commercial health and disability insurers for individuals of all ages.

What is it like to work with The Mental Health Justice Project?

At MHJP you will have a dedicated team of attorneys and paralegals assisting with your case from start to finish. We know that the insurance claims process and fighting insurance denials can be a stressful time, particularly when you are managing your own health conditions. At MHJP, we are here to take that burden off of your shoulders, and will work closely with you throughout your case.
